WELCOME TO MRS ARMSTRONG'S CLASS

Hello! My name is Mrs Armstrong.  Our assistants are Mrs Elkin and Mrs McNeilly. We are very much looking forward to the year ahead with our class.  We hope this page provides a ‘window’ into life in our classroom as we progress through our learning journey together.  We hope to develop new skills, independence, curiosity and a love of learning and that we will have lots of fun along the way!

We are learning to work and play together, sharing and taking turns with our toys.  Lots of our play helps us develop our fine motor skills.  We need our fingers to be able to do lots of tiny movements and these will help us with our pencil skills and writing too.

We have been sorting.  We can sort for colour and category.

Exploring numicon and learning about how numbers look. This way we can physically see what a 3,5 or 8 looks like!

We talked about the rules we would like to have in our class to make it a happy place. We came up with some great ideas and Mrs Armstrong drew pictures of these on the board.

We have been learning to use a drawing programme on Just2Easy to create pictures. Today we worked on creating self portraits.  We really enjoyed this activity.

Autumn has arrived.  We went for a walk to hunt for signs of Autumn. We found lots of wonderful Autumn treasure! We created an Autumn display table in our classroom.

We looked closely at the trees outside our classroom and talked about how the leaves were different colours and starting to fall to the ground. We painted Autumn trees. We used brushes for the trunk and our fingers to create the leaves.

We had great fun at our Halloween disco and party today in school. We looked great in our costumes

For Remembrance Day, we made poppies. We used lolly pop sticks, tissue paper, glue and paint.

We decorated our classroom for Christmas!

We have been learning about houses, homes and buildings in our local area.  We made our own houses using boxes and stuck on a roof, doors and windows. We added our houses to our Tiny Town play area.

We made a number line in class using Numicon. We were able to put all the numbers in the correct order.
