Knockmore Primary School aims for high standards of pupil attainment and this is reflected in the expectations held by Principal, Ms Andrea Hardwick and her staff for pupils in terms of their attitude, approach and application to learning, school discipline, respect for others, appearance and attendance. Aiming to promote a caring, happy and disciplined environment which will be conductive to learning and will develop in pupils the capacity to become contributing members of society.
The school attempts to express Christian values in its life and in particular to reflect the ethos of the Church of Ireland. The school is open to all children and believes that diversity in the school community enhances the educational experience for our children.
Currently there are six classes in years 1-7, four Speech and Language classes and three Social Communication classes. All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards to aid teaching and learning and all pupils have access to desktop computers, laptops and iPads. In addition there will soon be a sensory room and separate room for learning support provision. There is also on site facilities to HSC Speech Therapists and the school also provides an outreach programme to other schools in the local area.
The school has its own kitchen facilities to provide school meals, two large outside playgrounds and a large grass area, adventure playground and two outside classrooms. The school has developed a wildlife area with bug hotels, a willow igloo, poly tunnel and bird boxes.
